Arbor Day is an annual event that provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to join together to beautify the Tech campus, build a sense of community, and receive recognition. Live music, free food and t-shirts, and planting alongside other Red Raiders makes this one of the most anticipated events each spring.
First year Terry's gathered in front of the Honors College for about 45 minutes to plant lantana in one of the beds there.
Arbor Day is the finale of a week of Tech events to commemorate Strive for Honor Week and Sustainability Week.
“Arbor Day is a great opportunity for Red Raiders to come together to beautify the campus and understand the importance of service while building a sense of community,” said Jon Mark Bernal, associate director for Student Union & Activities. “It allows for students, faculty, staff and alumni to celebrate in a fun way by enjoying music, food and planting right in the heart of campus.”
105 student organizations signed up to plant 26,000 plants.
