Mission
The Mission of our Tech Terry Mentor Program is to assist incoming Terry freshman with the transition into the college world. Mentors will help to make freshman feel comfortable at Tech and let them know about all of the opportunities that are available to them. Further, they will serve as role models and mentors throughout the year by providing assistance on the varied aspects of college life including academics, on-campus involvement and issues of a personal nature. We want them to feel comfortable speaking to us about these things, so this will require in person meetings.
Expectations
1. Attend the Dinner and sign the contract.
2. Attend Mentor Day in August and participate where needed.
3. Make yourself readily available to the freshman when needed to include offering advice on academics or personal issues.
4. Meet/Contact your mentees once a month, in person, checking on how they are.
5. Attend each mentor/mentee event once a semester.
6. Have a set out system on how you are going to contact your mentees.
7. Participate in Terry events as much as possible, if you are not going to the events then the freshman will get the same idea. You are a role model, therefore when you are available you should be attending the events. The Terry program is paying YOU to be a part of IT, the least we could do is be a good participant in the resources set out for us.
8. Uphold the tenets of the Terry Scholars program, the Terry Foundation, and Texas Tech University; as well as Texas Tech Honors college.
