Scholars by Numbers
With a program as exciting at the Terry Scholar program, there is much interest about the students and their choices.
Program Growth: Since 2011 the program has grown 600%. No other school in the foundation's history has that kind of record.
Stipend Awards: The incoming freshman scholars are on a last dollar scholarship, where the cost of attendance is subtracted from all the students other aid and the balance is awarded to the student. Transfer Terry Scholars are awarded a flat 65% of the cost of attendance per year to attend. Over 8 Million in aid has already been pledged to students attending Texas Tech.

The next year Tech participated in a mixed panel for interviews and added 4 more scholars to total 20 in the second class. The third class bring 32 new freshmen scholars and 24 new transfer Terry Scholars. In 2015, we added 33 new freshmen and 24 transfers to the Tech Terry Family.
This will bring the scholarship dollars from the foundation to students at Tech to over 2.8 million dollars in the fall semester 2015 alone.
Freshman Scholarships The incoming freshman scholars are on a last dollar scholarship, where the cost of attendance is subtracted from all the students other aid and the balance is awarded to the student.
Transfer Scholarships In the new programs’ first year (2013) there were 50 nominees from Texas Tech. These nominees went into a random selection pool against candidates from the other 8 Terry Schools. The foundation chose to give 44 of those candidates an interview opportunity. The interview panels selected 24 of those to become Terry Scholars in the first year.
